Miller Face Shield PAPR
A standalone powered air purifying respirator built around a dedicated polycarbonate face shield rather than a flip-front welding helmet. Per Miller's owner's manual (OM-288359A), it is intended for chipping, grinding, wire-brushing, and similar activities, plus welding, cutting, brazing, and soldering requiring lens Shade No. 5 or less. The blower assembly filters contaminated air through a spark guard screen, foam prefilter, and particulate (HEPA) filter, then delivers it through a breathing tube into the face shield. Battery, charger, filter, prefilter, spark guard, belt, and breathing-tube parts are shared with Miller's other current-generation PAPR blower hardware but the face shield shell, lens, lens locks, and Gen 5 headgear are unique to this system.

Generations & part-number caution: Uses Head Gear, Gen 5 (288343) — Miller's manual does not cross-reference this to the Gen 1/Gen 2 welding-helmet PAPR headgear generations documented elsewhere on this site, so treat it as its own line. Lens ships in three options: Clear (288348), Shade 3 (288349), Shade 5 (288350); locking hardware is Lens Locks RH/LH (288351). Two head-seal options exist: Standard (288344) and Heavy Duty (288346).

Section 8 Troubleshooting (p.25) contains a battery/charger cross- reference that appears to be boilerplate carried over from another Miller PAPR manual: it states "Use charger 282077 for battery 282076," but the parts list on p.31 pairs charger 282077 with battery 287178 (item 6/7 of Figure 10-2) for this system.
