What is the 3M Adflo powered air respirator?

Updated 2026-07-07

The Adflo is 3M’s belt-mounted powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) blower for welding, used with Speedglas 9100-Air, 9100 FX-Air, 9100 MP, G5-01 and G5-03 Pro Air headtops (and Versaflo M-series headgear, with the correct breathing tube/duct). It’s approved under EN 12941:1998+A2:2008 (class TH2 or TH3 depending on the headtop and filter combination — for example G5-01 is rated TH3, 9100-Air is TH2, per 3M’s own compatibility matrix), NIOSH 42 CFR 84 (US), and AS/NZS 1716:2012 (AU/NZ).

Part numbers for Adflo consumables and spares are region- and generation- sensitive: legacy US numbering (15-xxxx-xx, 35-xxxx-xx) coexists with current EMEA numbering (83xxxx/836xxx), so always match parts to your region and kit.

3M’s user instructions are explicit: don’t repair or modify any component, and don’t use parts or accessories other than those named in the instructions or on the respirator’s NIOSH approval label — doing so may adversely affect performance. Always check the approval label on your exact unit before relying on it for respiratory protection.
