Can I use CleanSpace with a beard?

Updated 2026-07-07

Our records don’t contain a manufacturer statement specifically addressing facial hair for CleanSpace’s CST PRO system, so we won’t invent an answer either way.

What the records confirm: the CleanSpace CST PRO is a tight-fitting half-mask respirator, certified EN 12942 TM3 (and NIOSH TC-21C-1269 Class HE in the US with the CST1004 filter) — a different category from loose-fitting hood/helmet PAPRs under EN 12941. Tight-fitting masks rely on continuous skin-to-seal contact to achieve their rated protection factor, and the manufacturer’s datasheet confirms this system requires face-fit testing (a Quantitative Fit Testing Kit, PAF-1043, is available for it).

Facial hair at the seal line is a well-established general concern for any tight-fitting mask’s ability to pass a fit test — but whether your specific beard and this mask can pass is something only a proper fit test can confirm, not a parts record. If you have a beard, raise it with a competent fit tester or consider a loose-fitting hood/helmet PAPR instead.
