What is the JSP PowerCap Active IP powered respirator?
Updated 2026-07-07
The PowerCap Active IP is JSP’s entry-level powered air respirator (PAPR), a variant of the PowerCap Active. It’s a firm-fitting, self-contained headtop built on JSP’s Hardcap A1+ bump-cap shell, with a rivet-mounted impact faceshield (EN 166, 0.75 mm polycarbonate, aluminium edges) for flying-particle work — the standard PowerCap Active uses a non-impact hook-and-loop visor instead. According to JSP’s official product page, the IP model is certified to EN 166, EN 812+A1 and EN 12941+A2 TH1P, runs at 160 l/min airflow on an 8-hour PowerBox1 battery, and ships with two TH1P filters and one battery pack.
It is a distinct, lower-spec system from the PowerCap Infinity (a TH3P-class unit built on JSP’s EVO5 Olympus helmet, with its own separate parts range) — the two ranges are not interchangeable.
As with any PAPR, confirm the approval label on your specific unit and use only the parts listed for it before relying on it for respiratory protection under EN 12941.
